After I have done my warm up, if I haven't already jumped into the writing. My eyes are ready to focus on what I will apply onto the paper and my hands will be relaxed when I hold the calligraphy pen. Now it is time to write!
Do you have a favorite spot at home, work, or outside to sit when you write? I like to write at my desk at home because the desk is flat and it has the things that I need, my paper and my pens. How are you sitting? Your posture can affect how well you write. When writing calligraphy I want my energy to flow to my hand that is writing. I sit with my back straight up, trying to avoid slouching. My feet are planted and situated in a certain way on the floor.
Since I'm right handed I have the weight of my left hand holding the paper down so it won't move. I take the calligraphy pen and start writing. When I write, I work on keeping my breathing under control, out through the mouth and in through the nose.
I like silence because it helps me to concentrate. I can also write when the television is on or have music on, but silence is the number one choice for me. The main goal is to keep calm and relaxed while writing calligraphy so my writing and/or drawings will look great!
How do you relax when you are writing and/or drawing? Please address this in the comment section and I look forward to hearing from you!
